Life is too rushed, too complex, and always way too stressful. We all know this. And sometimes we need to pause things... just for a while. Sit... Breathe... Relax... Three simple remedies to help ease your hectic day. And so we cordially invite you to take a much needed short break: a restorative pause in which to pull up a chair, to sit back and join Steve Matchett and Kevin Fielden pondering the world from the porch of Steve’s home on the banks of Lake Wylie, in Charlotte, North Carolina. The entire premise for this pleasurable distraction is intentionally unassuming: Two friends chatting about nothing in particular (most definitely not about religion or politics) for half-an-hour, maybe forty minutes. That’s it. That’s the whole thing. One take. No quirky, overly produced editing. No unnecessary music playing in the background - nothing beyond the natural ambience of nature itself. In essence, then, gentle listener, this little get-together is simply you, Matchett and the other guy unwinding by the lake – friends enjoying one another’s company. The restorative pause. Sit... Breathe... Relax... Enjoy. For many, our love of books goes back further than we care to remember… little fingers turning the thick pages of The Very Hungry Caterpillar or Harry the Dirty Dog, a hundred other fun-filled titles; as inquisitive toddlers we likely held these books upside down, mostly. Perhaps, in later life, our reading choices were based on our growing interests, or volumes from a list of enduring classics assigned by our English teacher. Whatever our reason for reading: pleasure, education, or pure escape from reality, our literary journeys guide us, they help to form our wider awareness of the world. Our chosen genres are near limitless: some of us are engrossed in historical writings, biographies of the good and the great; others prefer fiction, some enjoying the chilling thrill of fictional mystery, while others long to be held tenderly by the yielding pages of a loving romance. Time now to settle in and join Steve and Kevin as they open the book on this week's topic. Oh, and as this is an audio adventure, there's no reading glasses required.
